Sign Language with Emotion

I have seen almost every Musical in the world....the lists goes on and on, but here are a few:

......from "Cats", " Dancin' ", "Dreamgirls" and "Chorus Line" in the 1980's to "Wicked", "Le Reve", "Phantom of the Opera", " Mamma Mia! " and "House of the Dancing Water"........

Last night I was extremely fortunate to see a different type of Musical. It was more of a Cabaret show but without music, dialogue or even the "clapping of the hands"....it was "Silence Le Cabaret" at The Good Lab.

I have experienced many an unusual evening in my life, but this one is for sure in the TOP 10.

We were taught to applaud in Sign Language....to say 'thank you' and other important words to communicate with someone. We had headphones on the entire evening so there was no way you could even attempt to talk to the person next to you!!

Keith and Anthony were extraordinary and I was moved with emotion towards the end by their love for acting and having a ball at the same time, BUT, without saying a single word, since they can't.

They are Deaf and Mute....you must believe me when I say it was an amazing 3 hours. Of course, we were called on stage to dance and recite with actions which I found was easier than I thought. I had the time of my life and enjoyed their "talking eyes".....

My compliments to Fiona Wat, the Founder of this Cabaret. She is working with her heart....and to me this is priceless.

If by any chance you are in Hong Kong and would like to go to a unique dinner, well, get tickets for this unusual Musical....

Splendida esperienza. Forse perché io amo il silenzio, non la solitudine.
La parola tace il silenzio canta!
Troppo bello! Quanto siamo abituati a sentire blaterare (spesso a vanvera) o ascoltare cose senza senso mentre invece saper ascoltare e, in questo caso, soprattutto guardare è una virtù che pochi hanno.
E poi pensavo quante volte mi è capitato (soprattutto con le persone che mi sono più vicine) di capirsi più da uno sguardo che neanche da un lungo discorso!

A voi non succede?

E quando succede proprio l’altro mentre di dice tutto - per esempio con un sorriso - si può solo ringraziare. E’ quello che mi accaduto e che mi accade guardando la tua foto ed io, appunto, di schianto posso solo commuovervi e dirti di nuovo (e non finirà mai): GRAZIE HEATHER!

Cara Heather, concordo con Alfonso, post emozionante.

Credo che solo un'animo artistico sia in grado di percepire al meglio le vibrazioni di uno spettacolo cosi "alternativo" e affascinante al tempostesso, e, di conseguenza, trasmetterle a chi non era presente. In fondo possiamo dire che anche la danza sia silenzio? Un ballerino non parla, ma comunica con la gestualita' e l'eleganza dei movimenti , quindi chi meglio di te poteva ben cogliere tutte le sfumature, i preziosismi artistici dello spettacolo per poi trasmettercele cosi bene?

Che meraviglia, che bel post! In Italia non è possibile assistere ad uno spettacolo del genere? Mi piacerebbe tantissimo vivere un'esperienza così! Mi piacciono i Musical, ho scritto una musicommedia "Impiegate in Paradiso" che verrà rappresentata in occasione della XIII edizione della lingua italiana nel mondo, purtroppo o per fortuna, verrà rappresentata in Brasile a Joinville (spero si scriva così), adoro il teatro in tutte le sue espressioni e la tua esperienza Heather, deve essere stata davvero speciale.

Carissima e simpaticissima Heather, e' davvero carino quello che fai e poi gli orientali hanno un fascino e una filosofia di vita molto affascinante....anche se Hong Kong e frenetica cque spero che avrai dei lunghi momenti di relax ...come qsto......ciaoooo
