Are they really toxic? ...

I came across this article in the South China Morning Post and to be honest, I am not going to be controversial because I have the foggiest if it is true ....

The classy Armani, the versatile Versace, the tendentious Dolce & Gabbana, along with Hermes and Louis Vuitton (2 of my favourites!), are not that naive into tricking their customers .... Or are they? ...

They must be aware of what Greenpeace is revealing to the world, but they won't budge ...

12 out of 30 brands fashion houses have turned down a request to "clean up their act" by removing all toxic chemicals from their manufacturing process and products ....

Certain clothing industries are releasing hazardous substances into the environment. Traces are often left on the finished products, which could harm the health of the wearer (disrupting hormones and affecting liver function) ....

Brands that have promised to remove toxic chemicals by 2020 and have been regularly reporting progress:

Adidas, Benetton, Burberry, C&A, Esprit, Fast Retailing, H&M, Levi's, L Brands, Mango, Marks & Spencer, Primark, Puma, Valentino and Zara ...

Brands that promised but failed to report progress:

Nike and Li-Ning ...

Brands that refused to make progress:

Bestseller, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes, Gap, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Meter/bonwe, Only the Brave, PVH, Vanci and Versace ...

But respecting the environment and toxicity of clothing are only a few of the controversial aspects in the Fashion World ....

Human Rights Watch has revealed the unspeakable conditions inwhich many Cambodian workers are forced to work for brands such as Gap, Marks & Spencer, Adidas or H & M.

I will leave it to your imagination regarding the salary levels which deserve some consideration but I would rather take a moment concerning other disturbing aspects ....

Circa 2000 people faint in the factories during the year because of no ventilation and ridiculous lack of air caused by Toxic Fumes, not being fed properly and not given their regular intervals ....

Comparing 60 workers, 20 are 12 year olds, who sew and work exactly as the adults do ....

Once they found out that you are pregnant, women are immediately fired. They are considered too slow and go too often to the bathroom. ( I am squirming!!) .... This is the reason why most attempt to hide their pregnancies for as long as possible ....

I continue to wear many of the above, in almost all of the categories, am I wrong?! ....

Viviamo in un mondo di ipocrisia assoluta. Tutti in prima fila a fare finta beneficenza,solo per aggiungere pubblicità a se stessi... Tu hai una tua linea di moda adesso ed è sicuramente pulita e onesta. Scegli HPEACE.

Ciao! Non mi si apre l'articolo. Ad ogni modo personalmente questi articoli li prendo con le pinze, poi ho bisogno di approfondire: quali sono le sostanze dannose? chi le ha descritte ? c'e' qualche pubblicazione scientifica e da parte di chi ? cosa significa " . . alcune aziende si sono rifiutare di prendere impegni"? sembra che si parli di dittatori cinici che sfruttano i clienti per far soldi. . dai, gente seria e appassionata del proprio lavoro come Armani per esempio , non credo. .

Riguardo lo sfruttamento degli operai non e' una novita', gia' negli anni 80 ci fu lo scandalo dei palloni e scarpe Naike che venivano confezionati da bambini piccoli in nazioni sottosviluppate. . purtroppo il problema sono anche le (inesistenti) leggi di questi paesi che negano qualsiasi diritto ai nullatenenti, alle donne, ai bimbi, agli anziani, cosi da permettere alle multinazionali di 'destreggiarsi' meglio. . . ma oggigiorno ci sono controlli piu' mirati, grazie anche alle associazioni internazionali che filtrano e documentano le reali condizioni di lavoro.

Detto cio', mi bollerete come una cinica, ma sono innamorata di alcuni nostri stilisti che reputo degli autentici artisti, come Armani, Valentino, Dolce e Gabbana, che adoro per le creazioni cosi intense, eleganti con gusto , raffinate e semplici al tempo stesso. . per es, le ballerine con stampe a fiori di D&G delle ultime collezioni ,mamma mia che meraviglia. . se posso permettermi qualcosa ( poco. . ha ha. . qualche jeans oppure qualche borsa negli outlet che si trova a prezzi abbordabili diciamo) , me lo compro, lo indosso e mi sento bene. . . . potete pure spararmi. .
