In what home is there Pasta Barilla?!

I don't want to be catty while writing about this ordeal since someone "has caught their foot in their mouth...."

When I read the other day, via Twitter, the news of a comment, a rude absurd comment, I might add....said by Guido Barilla on Radio 24's "La Zanzara", "I would never do a spot with a homosexual family. Not out of a lack of respect but because I do not see it as they do. (My idea) of family, is a classic family, where a woman has a fundamental role" ...... I first thought to myself, Guido isn't dumb....in fact, he isn't dumb at all.

I have known Guido Barilla for over 25 years and the guy is rather polite and "perbene" (respectable)....never have I heard him say a cross word against anyone....but, in that last few days, a tragedy has struck "Casa Barilla".....

Why would anyone, let alone a celebrity with a wide appeal like Barilla, say something of the sort?

Only because Italy is commanded by the Vatican?! Oh come on, how ridiculous in 2013.

It is useless to hide the fact that Italy's image has taken its toll. The Political class is anything but believable and appreciated.....they are gripped by fear regarding their economic crisis......their entreprenutrial activities are totally disposed of with a huge part of the major companies "in the hands of" foreigners. (Salumi Fiorucci, Star, Parmalat, Galbani, Locatelli, sparkling wine Gancia, Invernizzi, pasta Buitoni, Scotti rice, only to say a few).....and I am not even going near the Fashion world (Bulgari, Loro Piana....)

The damage brought about towards this famous Italian brand will be enormous.

Because in the United States, as in France and England, the so-called "developed countries", this type of comment can get you into hot water since it is similar to a nice but nasty ghetto. (I am being sarcastic here!!)

He could have "skirt the issue" and been diplomatic saying "We haven't ever attempted to use a 'homosexual family' for our ads......" or something of the sort.....no?!

Then he declared, "If Gays don't like it, then they can always eat another brand of pasta."

"Wish granted".......they will.

And then putting the icing on the cake he said, "Homosexuals can do whatever they please, God forbid, just as long as they don't disturb others..."

Umm, hello?!

Offensive. Is he birdbrained or what? Being Gay isn't a race or a disease.

This last comment was similiar to Putin's concerning the Moscow Olympics reminding EVERYONE, (tourists and athletes) ......something of the sort.

And with this, I have said it all. Not much else to utter on the front, towards Italian politicians, the journalistic world and especially the "Public" opinion.

I know that Italy is long off on being even close to how the Gay community is in other parts of the world, where Marriage and Adoption are "green lighted"....but please....

This is the sad reality of a class of people which is almost everywhere in Italy and even more than you can imagine.....and unfortunately it makes Italy seem "third world" in comparison with others around the universe.

I asked our 20 year old "daughter", Ilaria, who lives in Vicenza, Italy, to give it a go and give me her opinion on the matter.

I am not criticizing Mr. Barilla.

I believe that he is the expression of the major part of Italians since he is "son of a society", not game on changing. He is son of a rigid mentality which folds upon themselves, casting their eyes towards the dark middle ages and of a prevaricate Church, instead of opening one's self to the beauty of diversity and freedom.

As he, most of my peers on on the same wave-length.

One question: what does "family" truly mean?

Is it really the arithmetic sum of a man and a woman? I don't believe so.

Family means love, feelings, it is something that starts from within and doesn't look at age, status, or someones sex. Love can't be undefined or vague. Man cannot have the power to put boundries and constraints.

And love can be between man and woman, as it can be between man and man or woman and woman.

Here we can speak about a natural family without understanding that love cannot be different between natural and artificial.

It is LOVE. Period.

We can speak of children who must grow up with a Mother and a Father, but we aren't asking ourselves if that is enough, however this Mother or Father is. Or if it is necessary for children to be cared for with love and dedication. How many Mothers abandon or kill their children......and how many Fathers beat and abuse their children. Is this the "natural family" ? Is this "normality" ?

No, but we are more reluctant to accept a gay family rather than a family that is characterized by abuse and violence.

Why? Do we really think social relationships should be finalized in one singular procreation?

Diversity enriches us, it makes us better people, and with this, we must begin to learn to accept it.

POVERI NOI ITALIANI CON GENTE COME IL BARILLA CHE DOVREBBE DARE ESEMPIO DI LIBERTA' E DI EGUAGLIANZA MA CHE INVECE PARLA COME PUTIN...EPPURE SONO PERSONE CHE HANNO GIRATO IL MONDO MA CHE RIMANGONO NELLA LORO RISTRETTEZZA MENTALE.

Tutta la storia della vita sulla Terra ci insegna che la «diversità» è un valore fondamentale. La ricchezza della vita, infatti, è dovuta alla sua diversità.

Vorrei ricordare al Sig Barilla che la famiglia che io e Leo formiamo è in piedi da 16 anni e non mostra segni di cedimento.....meglio, molto meglio di quella che lui presenta nei suoi spot

. . .che poi negli ultimi spot del Mulino Bianco il concetto di famiglia manco esiste perche' e' rappresentato da una figura centrale maschile, che sarebbe Banderas, quindi idealmente e' un single che parla le galline

A parte le battute, molto sinceramente penso che uno che e' a capo di un'azienda privata liberamente adotti la strategia che ritenga essere piu' conveniente, dallo spot agli slogan e via dicendo, quindi non capisco tutto questo clamore, dal momento in cui tutti rivendicano il diritto di dire cio' che pensano, lui ha espresso il suo, da manager e rivolto ad un pensiero esclusivamente di marketing, verso la sua azienda.

Il punto e', come dice molto bene Heather, che e' andato oltre esprimendo un suo giudizio personale, perche' quel ". . . purche' non disturbino gli altri" mi ha gelato il sangue!!

Poteva, come dice bene Heather, molto elegantemente, sorvolare, fermarsi e chiudere la questione, e' un manager diamine, non e' un ragazzino sprovveduto che parla per la prima volta con delle persone in pubblico, quindi boh. . .

ehi fiore la penso come te....tutti rivendicano il diritto di dire liberamente cio'che pensano,poi quando lo fanno v
anno messi alla gogna...
ma dico io...siamo cresciuti con la bella immagine della famiglia da mulino bianco,anche ai tempi della bimba che tornava a casa e trovava il gattino e trovava mamma e babbo ad accoglierla,e poi via di seguito anche le altre con babbo e mama sorridente con tanto di prole...e perche'dovrebbe cambiare idea?alla fine penso sia una bella immagine,con la classica famiglia...e classica nons ta solo per famiglia etero ma famiglia non allargata,o non separata....insomma una raffigurazione positiva del focolare domensti...e perche'non sognare e sperare che possa esistere ancora?
effettivamente la battuta purche'non disturbino e'stata fuori luogo...ma per il resto CHI SE NE FREGA...
solo che al giorno d'oggi se uno dice qualcosa di sbagliato contro un extacomunitario e un gay o aaltro ,viene subito additato o tacciato di razzismo...mentre se succede il contrario tutto e'lecito..

bAH...on vorrei nemmeno rispondere perché ho gia' detto come la penso.
Cristian..mi meraviglia che tu non colga la gravita' dell affermazione...eppure credo che tu ne sia coinvolto.
Il pensiero e' libero ma se e' discriminatorio allora non e' piu' libero perché va ad intaccare la dignita' di chi e' stato violato.
Barilla puo' fare qello che vuole ma deve anche accettare le conseguenze.
Se si lotta per i diritti e poi qualcuno del suo calibro...sminuisce quelli che sono valori e sentimenti di molti...moltissimi... beh allora perdonami ma la liberta' non esiste piu'
per quanto riguarda gli spot...e' un messaggio positivo quello che trasmette?
esistono famiglie cosi?
c'e' gente che batte le mani davanti a un biscotto???? per carita'....quella non e' un immagine positiva...quella e' un immagine menzognera.
Non mi meraviglia il fatto che le sue parole abbiano avuto un cosi' grande eco di contestazioni...mi meraviglio che se ne meravigli lui.

Non mi sento coinvolto,e si ci sono ancora famigle cosi...e per fortuna le conosco...ad esempio mio fratello e sua moglie emiei nipoti....e non solo.....cque vabbeh ognuno il suo pensiero,e se a te da fastidio cio che ha detto rispetto....
io mangio barilla come altre...dipende dalle offerte eh eh eh

Brava heather parole sante .. purtroppo pero' l'italia e' ancora molto indietro riguardo molte cose figuriamoci l'omosessualita'... non oso pensare all'estero che opinione negativa abbiano di noi.... sinceramente penso che qui in italia sia molto piu' difficile che all'estero dove addirittura i gay possono sposarsi.Barilla e' il classico stereotipo della gran parte degli italian (non tutti per fortuna) omofobo ed ignorante... ma la caduta d'immagine e di vendite come dici giustamente tu sara' enorme un bacio marco fanfano

Anche io se dovessi fare uno spot non userei degli omosessuali. Posso pensarla cosi' ? Perché qualcuno deve essere boicottato per le proprie idee ? o si boicotta tutti o non si boicotta nessuno right ? Mi piacciono i neri... non mi piacciono i neri... e allora? Non e' una cosa naturale avere delle opinioni? Oh i terroni... oh gli Ebrei... meglio un morto in casa che un pisano all'uscio dicono i fiorentini... e allora? Si chiama liberta' di espressione ed e' sacra. Il politically correct e' stato inventato non per difendere le minoranze... ma per tappare la bocca della gente con il preciso intento di limare la liberta' di pensiero e di scelta. Io ho amici neri e se mi fanno incavolare li insulto esattamente come insulterei un amico bianco. Perché siamo uguali. In Africa i bianchi hanno svariati soprannomi nemmeno uno carino... e allora non e' normale? e chissenefrega, l'uomo e' fatto cosi'. Non si chiude la bocca e si continua a pensare, perché questa e' IPOCRISIA. Lasciamo che il mondo sia piu' sudicio, ma piu' vero. Io vorrei invece dire due paroline ai signori Barilla, riguardo le merendine diaboliche che producono da un ventennio o piu' e che hanno reso obese intere generazioni di ragazzi. E della qualità' delle farine e degli ingredienti che usano nei loro prodotti. Su questo ci dovremmo incavolare.
